The Red Onion is an expat hangout in New Maadi most popular with international school teachers. It is a restaurant slash bar. About half the space is for dining and the other half is the bar. the bar gets busy and smoky but the beer is always cold and the service is excellent. they put free popcorn on your table to keep you ordering more drinks. worth a visit especially if you are new to maadi - you are bound to make some new friends.
