About Abu Zeneima
The modern port city of Abu Zeneima is set south of the canal along the Gulf of Suez. Royal copper mines were established first in Wadi Maghara and later in the nearby Serabit el-Khadim plateau, both near Abu Zeneima in the Egyptian Sinai. Today it is a mining town and a center of production of silica and kaolin. Visit the Hathor Temple in Serabit el Khadim, the first temple built outside the Nile valley. Three day jeep safaris begin their tours at Abu Zeneima then travel to Wadi Ba’ba’a and Wadi Matallah.
