About Aswan
Situated on the eastern bank of the Nile, Aswan and the surrounding area were known in ancient times as Nubia. The African atmosphere is strongly felt here particularly in the souks. The scent of spices and perfumes, the brilliant colors of fabrics and silky scarves and the displays of Nubian Art reflects the mixture of Egyptian and Sudanese culture.
