About El Sharkeya
The governorate of El Sharkeya is located about 70 km northeast of Cairo and 8 km inland from the Mediterranean Sea. The capital city is Zagazig. True to its emblem of a white horse, El Sharkeya is the site of equestrian riding and jumping competitions. The primary industry in the area is textiles. Ostrich farming is also quite prominent here.
