About Kafr El Sheikh
Kafr El Sheikh is a governorate situated in northern Egypt along the western bank of the Nile. The governorate is home to many colleges and an independent university. The major industries are rice milling and the production of poultry feed. Visit the village of Sakha a few km south of Kafr El Sheikh (the capital city) and the site of the ancient city of Xois. Xois was the center of worship to the god Amun Re in Pharaonic times and later was the location of the Church of the Virgin, site of a rock said to have the footprint of baby Jesus on it, made during a journey by the Holy Family through the Delta.
