Get away from all the loud Cairo noise and step into Al Ketab bookstore. I happened to stroll into this store by accident. I wasn’t quite sure what it was at first, as the name of the store was written in Arabic. I’m so glad I walked in! This quaint store is bright, clean, quiet, well air-conditioned and smells like freshly brewed coffee. The store is filled with books in English and Arabic, as well as CD’s and unique gift items. There are several tables, so you can sit down and enjoy a book and a good cup of coffee. They also offer a selection of Panini’s – try the turkey and cheese, it’s delicious. Free Wi-Fi too! Al Kotob also has a “stamp card”. If you get so many stamps, you get money back to spend at the store. The owner is pleasant and if there is a book you need, she can most likely order it for you. Since then, the owner has added a larger store sign (in English) and has remodeled inside, expanding the space.
A most excellent little book store and don’t be deceived by its size. The selection here is awesome with titles available in English and Arabic (and other languages). They have occasional visiting authors who present discussions of current works. The owner, Sharaf, is extremely helpful and she'll order anything you're looking for that's not in stock. Al Kotob is a great place to get gifts for both children and adults. Lastly, there's a small cafe counter with treats and drinks and a small 'reading room' area where you can enjoy your latte or cappuccino.
الكتب خان فيه مجموعة رائعة من الكتب فى جميع المجالات وبكل اللغات سواء عربى، انجليزى، فرنساوى، ألمانى.. المكان نفسه جميل جداً وذا طابع فريد من نوعه يكفى أن اسم المكان جميل ويجذب الانتباه. هناك تقدر تتطلع على الكتب براحتك زائد انه يوجد مكان مخصص للجلوس وتناول القهوة أو مشروبك المفضل. أجمل شىء انك تقدر تطلب اى كتاب ويوصلك لحد بيتك زائد انه ليهم ويب سايت وتقدر تشترى اون لاين وتعرف من خلاله اخر الاخبار والاصدارات وده شىء بحبه. الشىء المميز ايضاً ان أى حد يقدر يوصل للمكان بسهولة لأنه موجود فى شارع اللاسلكى فى المعادى الجديدة وهو غنى عن التعريف.
