More about ASWAN

Situated on the eastern bank of the Nile, Aswan and the surrounding area were known in ancient times as Nubia. The African atmosphere is strongly felt here particularly in the souks. The scent of spices and perfumes, the brilliant colors of fabrics and silky scarves and the displays of Nubian Art reflects the mixture of Egyptian and Sudanese culture. A combination of all these elements makes a visit to the souk a truly exotic experience. Although Aswan has deep roots in the past, it has a firm holds in the present. The most relaxing and enjoyable way to enjoy Aswan and its surroundings is to take an afternoon sail on a felucca around the islands and visit the many Pharaonic sights at leisure.
